What do I need to know before I paddle Kings Creek?

When you leave Kingston Landing, you will take a right and travel about 1/3 of a mile to the mouth of Kings Creek. Prior to heading out you should:

1. Look at the conditions on the Choptank River.

It may only be a short paddle to the mouth of the creek, but the choptank can get pretty rough. Check for small    craft and wind advisories before heading out.

2. Be mindful of the tides.

You can paddle the entire water trail at low tide, but if you want to explore any of the little side streams

through the marsh or if you want to paddle past the bridge, you will want to do so on a higher tide.

I also like to plan my trips so I don't have to fight the tide, especially on the way home.

3. Try the sidestreets.

There are lots of little side creeks to explore in the marsh. Don't be afraid to diverge for a 15 minute trip down

    one of these.

4. Leave No Trace.

We want to keep Kings Creek beautiful so please pack out any trash that you bring in.
