River Explorer Packs
In addition to using this online map of Kings Creek to learn about ecology and history of the area, you can explore all that Kings Creek has to offer by checking out a River Explorer Pack from the Midshore Riverkeeper office in Easton.
What do the explorer packs include?
1. binoculars
2. bird guide
3. vegetation pamphlet
4. water quality field test kit
5. log book to record observations
How many packs are there?
There are three packs that can be checked out of the office. Two of them are kayak deck bags so that they can be easily attached to the front of a kayak. The third is a backpack which can also be used to explore environments other than the water.
Activities for the nature pack:
1. See how many different species (birds, plants, animals) you can identify along your trip.
2. Close your eyes and listen for as many different bird calls as you can. Do this at the beginning of the paddle (in the marshy area) and at the end of the (near the bridge). Have the bird sounds changed?
3. Test the pH at different places along the creek to see if it changes as you move up. Test in one of the little side creeks.
